Resignation checklist
Start with your employment contract. Confirm your notice period, submit written notice, calculate the last working day, clarify whether annual leave will be taken or encashed, arrange handover and check your final salary and payslip.
Plan your resignation date
Calculate an estimated last working day from your resignation date and notice period.
1. Check your notice period
Your contract normally determines the required notice. If the contract does not specify one, statutory notice rules may apply. Read the Notice Period Guide or use the Notice Period Calculator.
2. Annual leave during notice
Do not assume unused leave automatically shortens the notice period. Taking annual leave during notice and using leave to offset notice can have different consequences. Confirm the arrangement with your employer and see the Annual Leave Guide.
3. Salary in lieu of notice
Where notice is not served, salary in lieu may be relevant depending on the circumstances and legal requirements. The applicable salary basis should be checked against current MOM rules and the employment contract.
4. Final salary
If employment ends before the last day of a month, incomplete-month salary rules may apply. Unused leave, authorised deductions and other amounts can also affect the final payment. Use the Final Salary Calculator for planning and the Prorated Salary Calculator for incomplete-month pay.
