The amounts above are simplified for salary planning. Actual eligibility and claimable amounts depend on IRAS rules and your personal circumstances. Singapore also has a total personal income tax relief cap of S$80,000 per Year of Assessment.

What should I enter in the salary calculator?

Use this simple approach if you only want a practical estimate.

If you are not sure:
Enter S$0. This gives a conservative tax estimate.

If you are a Singapore Citizen or PR employee:
You can estimate your relief as annual employee CPF + Earned Income Relief.

Simple example:
Monthly employee CPF S$1,000 × 12 months = S$12,000 CPF Relief. Add S$1,000 Earned Income Relief. Estimated annual relief = S$13,000.

If you have family reliefs:
Add spouse, parent or child reliefs only if you are sure you meet the conditions.

Resident vs non-resident

Tax reliefs are mainly relevant for Singapore tax residents.

If you choose “Non-resident employment income” in the salary calculator, the tax relief field is disabled and set to S$0. This is because non-resident employment income is usually taxed differently, and personal reliefs are generally not used in the same simple way.
